Rosie Siemer to present at 2018 American Public Gardens Association Conference

For Immediate Release

March 1, 2018—Rosie Siemer, Founder and CEO at FIVESEED, will present with Lynn Swain, Director of Development at Cornell Botanic Gardens, at the 2018 American Public Gardens Association Conference taking place in Southern California, June 4-8, 2018.

Rosie Siemer is a recognized expert in digital strategy and co-author of Membership Marketing in the Digital Age: A Handbook for Museums and Libraries. She has consulted for leading organizations around the world, including Louvre Abu Dhabi and Desert Botanical Garden. Lynn Swain has a 30-year career in museums. She joined the Cornell Botanic Gardens in Ithaca, NY as Director of Development in October 2016. Previously she served as Membership Director at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and as the Membership Manager at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. Both organizations experienced rapid growth in their membership base and revenue under her leadership.

Speaking on the topics of Membership, Giving, and Loyalty, Rosie and Lynn will discuss the importance of data in engaging audiences. As nonprofits are often challenged with identifying audiences and understanding motivations, finding ways to start a conversation, collect contact information, and encourage joining/giving is critical. Using data to uncover trends and point to opportunities and deficiencies is only the beginning.

Data collection and analysis is making marketing more effective, and allowing gardens to better tailor messaging to reach new and existing audiences. This case-study rich session will explore trends and best practices in data capture, engagement, and personalization. Emphasis will be placed on real world scenarios that include lookalike audience targeting, loyalty programs, and multichannel marketing strategies to reach and engage new audiences.
